We have our own FIRST Lego League Jr. team! FIRST Lego League Jr. is a program designed to introduce a group of six students ages 6-10 to STEM concepts through the use of legos! Because our team can only have six students, our students were each selected for special qualities that were identified by families and teachers! Our specially hand selected team at Keolu is guided by two adult coaches, Mrs. West and Mrs. Hardesty. This program focuses on building interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through a real-world challenge – to be solved by research, critical thinking, and imagination. Under the guidance of their two coaches and our core values, students will participate in a yearly challenge! They will cooperate in questioning, thinking, and research around the challenge in order to problem solve. After they solve the problems or challenge the students will build a lego model of their solution and create a show me poster that displays all of their thinking, learning, and collaboration. Our team meets after school to discuss our challenge, research, problem solve, and build. Every year there is a new challenge and an expo to celebrate it! At our expo we will present our model, our show me poster, and all of our learning to the other FIRST Lego League Jr. teams across the state! FIRST Core ValuesWe express the FIRST philosophies of Gracious Professionalism and Cooperation through our Core Values:
